The Otto Springman Memorial Scholarship Fund is named after one of the original founders of our organization. In 1951, Mr. Springman and some of his friends had the foresight to realize that there are many residents in Florida of German heritage, who would wish to promote the German culture and heritage. It is in his memory that our scholarship committee will provide a scholarship to deserving students who plan to contribute his/her German studies in a university of his/her choice. The scholarship program is funded by our annual Sommerfest celebration.
We seek to promote the study of German language and participation in German cultural activities. If you share these ideas and you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please complete the application and mail it to the attention of the Scholarship Committee to the German American Social Club of Sarasota.
The Otto Springman Memorial Scholarship Fund is available to students in the Sarasota and Bradenton area studying German. This program helps students meet the high cost of college expenses. The award is presented by the German American Social Club of Sarasota Board of Directors.
Students at all levels of post-secondary education are eligible for merit scholarships based on academic accomplishment, extracurricular activities, contributions to their community and a research paper on a German related topic. Each year hundreds of dollars are distributed to students studying German in our area.
